Maddy & Justin’s Summer Mt Rainier Elopement

If you’ve ever dreamed of saying your vows surrounded by mountain peaks, soft morning light, and a little bit of summer snow, Maddy & Justin’s Mt. Rainier elopement is the perfect example of how magical that can be. Their day was laid-back, intentional, and full of sweet moments with their family.

A Summer Weekend in Packwood

Maddy & Justin kicked off their elopement weekend by renting a large Airbnb in Packwood, Washington. It gave them plenty of space for their closest family to stay together, which made the whole weekend feel like a family trip.

The day before their ceremony, everyone swam in the river to cool off, played cornhole in the yard, and ended the night gathered around a bonfire. Being from out of state this was the perfect introduction to Washington and the beautiful scenery.

Getting Ready Before Sunrise

On the morning of their elopement, alarms went off before the sun came up. The house slowly filled with that cozy pre-wedding energy—Maddy’s dad was in the kitchen cooking breakfast burritos, while her sisters helped her with hair and makeup. Down the hall, Justin cracked open a few Rainier beers with his dad while they got ready.

This slower, more personal start to the day set the tone for everything that followed.

A Misty Drive and Sunrise Ceremony

As we headed toward the park, we spotted elk grazing in a foggy meadow—one of those “you couldn’t plan this if you tried” kind of moments. When we arrived at their ceremony location inside Mount Rainier National Park, the sun was just starting to rise, casting soft golden light over the landscape.

Hiking to Private Vows

Before their ceremony, Maddy & Justin donned their hiking shoes and trekked to the iconic Myrtle Falls to exchange private vows before meeting up with their family.

Even in July, patches of snow still covered the ground, which made for an incredible backdrop. Surrounded by their families bundled in jackets, Maddy & Justin exchanged their vows with Rainier’s peaks in the distance. It was quiet, simple, and deeply meaningful.

Why a Sunrise Elopement at Mt. Rainier is Worth It

Eloping at sunrise inside Mount Rainier National Park means fewer crowds, softer light, and a kind of stillness you just don’t get later in the day. Plus, the early start gives you the whole rest of the day to explore, celebrate with family, or sneak away for portraits around the park.

Maddy & Justin’s day is the perfect reminder that an elopement doesn’t have to be complicated to be beautiful.
